US Business Opportunities in the Healthcare Sector

When analyzing the study's conclusions, it is critical to keep self-determination theory assumptions in mind. Self-determination theory, for example, holds that autonomy, competence, and relatedness are universal psychological demands. There has been a lot of scholarly debate concerning the cross-cultural relevance of autonomy, especially in connection to Eastern cultures. The argument is that Eastern cultures prefer a cohesive and harmonious social framework, whereas Western cultures, where this theory originated, value independence and individualism (141,142). Nonetheless, the concept of autonomy is sometimes misinterpreted as simply independence, rather than its real definition: the freedom to select interesting, gratifying, and challenging activities (130). Furthermore, in order to enhance autonomy, people must have a strong sense of meaningful connection to others.

This demonstrates that self-determination theory does not encourage individualism, but rather emphasizes the significance of a social support system that is adaptable to many cultures.

This study was carried out within a Western culture by academics who were trained in and now live in Western civilizations. Nonetheless, the participants in this study came from a diverse spectrum of ethnic backgrounds and lived in a vibrant, cosmopolitan city. Thus, the universality of self-determination theory's psychological demands is critical in light of the study's findings. Further research is needed to determine the effectiveness of technology-supported social networks in encouraging physical activity participation. The majority of prior research has concentrated on the educational area, thus this investigation needs to be expanded. In Chapter 3, we investigate the participants' perspectives on the essential societal change to promote equitable and inclusive participation in physical activity. We discuss how these findings are consistent with the social model of disability, which argues that engaging young people with physical disabilities in physical activity can be improved by addressing attitudinal barriers such as prejudice and discrimination. The aspects that young people examine when establishing fair and equitable physical activity conditions can contribute to more inclusive environments for persons of all abilities.Further insights could be gained by examining the same research questions with a group of usually developing children. This would allow for a comparison of the experiences of young people with physical limitations, potentially highlighting any exacerbated consequences.

Suggestions for further inquiry.

Individuals have the ability to make decisions, but it is also critical to understand the role of their family and society in giving the essential support (130). Despite their different origins and applications, these two theories can be smoothly blended to promote equitable inclusion in physical activities for young people with physical disabilities. Our research identifies a variety of ways that social contexts can use to encourage and enable physical activity. One potential option is to use social technologies. Further research on this topic with young people who have a wide range of experiences with social support and social technology would substantially improve our understanding. For example, we can focus on young people who use AbilityOnline. This community uses technology, primarily a website, to offer vital social support to young people with disabilities. Young people participating in this program are likely to have unique experiential knowledge and viewpoints that are directly related to the study's objectives, with a particular emphasis on social technology. Insights from these young people would provide an invaluable opportunity for detailed and useful data. This viewpoint places a large amount of responsibility on the society in which these young people live. Self-determination theory, on the other hand, emphasizes the relevance of intrinsic motivation in engaging in activities like physical activity in order to preserve good health. This suggests that individuals bear personal accountability for their acts. This results in a clear clash between the social model of disability presented in Chapter 3 and the application of self-determination theory as a framework in Chapter 4. We believe that individuals cannot simply generate intrinsic motivation.

It would be worthwhile to investigate our research topics by investigating a group of young people who are particularly weak in social support.

While it may be difficult to engage young people who lack strong social networks, they are also a group that stands to benefit significantly from an intervention that uses social technology to promote physical activity through social connections, particularly if they have limited access to traditional exercise programs. This study looked at the ability of young people who could walk independently, with or without the help of mobility equipment, and who had the dexterity to operate objects such as a computer mouse or portable controller. These criteria were developed to narrow the area of viable design techniques for social technology. Nonetheless, the younger generation, which faces mobility issues or need ongoing care and help in completing manual work, may benefit from receiving social support and utilizing social technologies to increase their participation in physical activities. More research is needed to investigate the specific needs and preferences of these groups. The study found that the younger generation has offered useful information about their preferred means of socializing and participating in physical activities with their peers. However, a closer examination of the perceptions and beliefs of ordinarily developing young people toward their classmates with physical limitations
